Back in 1902, Catoosa was still considered Indian Territory and wasn't officially platted and surveyed until that year. Thanks to the Oklahoma Historical Society, we can see what that survey looked like in November 1902. Thanks to Google Earth, we can compare what that area looks like today.

Oklahoma's tax-free weekend starts today! From now through Sunday, August 3, 2025, you can shop online, in-store, or by catalog for tax-free savings on clothing and shoes that are less than $100.

But remember, the state of Oklahoma has this stipulation about sportswear: "This does not apply to the sale of any accessories, special clothing or footwear primarily designed for athletic activity or protective use that is not normally worn except when used for athletic activity or protective use, or to the rental of clothing or footwear."

❗️NOTIFICATION OF SEWER INVESTIGATION WORK❗️
Beginning Monday, July 28th through Wednesday, July 30th from 8:00am-5:00pm, weather permitting, representatives from Duke’s Root Control, Inc. (“Duke’s”) will be in your area for the purpose of evaluating the condition of the sanitary sewer system and private sewer service laterals. Crews will be evaluating the sewer mains and laterals through smoke testing (“smoke” is water vapor), which is a process in which non-toxic, non-flammable liquid smoke is pressurized through the sewer mains. Defects within the system are noted for repair by the crews. The pink door tags that Duke’s will be placing on your door two to three days prior to the test, gives more insight on the process and what you can do to prepare.

You DO NOT need to be present for the test.

This method of testing may require representatives from Duke’s to access manholes located within the Right-of-Way and/or utility easements, including those on private property but within the utility easement as well as crews may be noting defects around your property. Smoke Testing does not impact any operation of the sewer and there will be no disruption of service at any point. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. All Duke’s representatives will have identification badges and will be wearing company uniforms at all times.

Please feel free to contact Duke’s at (888) 620-0010 or the City of Catoosa at 918-266-2505 at any time.

Did you know this beloved historic landmark along Route 66 was initially built by Hugh S. Davis as a special place for his grandchildren to play and swim in the nearby pond? Davis, with help from his friend Harold Thomas, spent two years welding the metal framework and applying hand-mixed cement to form our city’s favorite whale. Do you love the Blue Whale as much as we do? Share your favorite memories below!
